Soft Spikes - The Results

I was really excited when I was taking the curlers out(which was as easy as putting them in); I could feel the corkscrew curls and this confirmed that I had put them in properly.

I loosened the curls and loved the back

I quite liked the view from the side

But I didn't like the front! I think that if my hair were longer I would have really liked the results; but these tight curly do's just don't seem to suit my face. Now it could be due to a mistake that I made when putting the SoftSpikes in; any advice will be greatly received and tried out next weekend.

(Gosh, I do look miserable!)

I decided to put my hair up with a hairtie and I loved the look I got. The SS set seemed to give me so much volume and I could see a lot more definition in my locks; so all was not lost. I know that the curls will drop over the next few days and I'm sure I will be able to wear my hair out then.

It's an art -- you can't get it on your first try. But your curls do look cute and not nearly as bad as you think. :)

They will fall over the next few days, especially since you're pulling them back in a hair tie.

When I have a special occasion, I always set my hair 2 days before because my favorite look is on day 3.

I also think that you hair looks nice. I know when I first used them, I did not like the tightness of the curls. Practise makes perfect, keep trying, you are doing very well!

If the curls didn't come out tight, I don't think they would fit the definiton of soft spikes.

But you are being way too hard on yourself. I think they look great from all angles.

Some tips I hear lesson the real tight effect include: using more locks on each spike, not setting hair after a fresh wash. Spritz
the hair or roll when dry.

I happen to like the tight curls so I do the "plan ahead" method.

I think it looks very nice. You just have to add a smile to that picture and all will be fine (-:

I like the curls...they came out great, but I do agree that the 2nd or 3rd day of curls are best.

Mel, I love the look. Ya kno I'm a curly kinda of girl until I get more density to my locks. It looks great on U.

Now how do you expect us to give you help if you don't let us see the result you got that you didn't like??!! You did a fantastic job on your first try. I love your curls! Along with what Goodnapps said, you can also mist your hair lightly with water, a little at a time, where the curl is too tight and gently pull out some of the curl. Practice does make perfect!

They do look good, I`m gonna order some myself for my daughter who`s locks are much longer than mine.

Brunsli, Thanks so much for all of your advice with the SS's. I am going to play around with getting the right curl at the front where my hair is shoter and more layered.

Thank You HairAffairs, I'm going to keep trying. (It was your recent post that made me decide to finally purchase them!)

Goodnapps, I'll take your advice and try putting them on dry hair and then spritzing...

Thank You Aya! :-)

DstDiva, they are starting to look better now (day 2).

Thanks Jos! Do you use Soft Spikes?

Brenda, that miserable photo is the final result! Thank You also for all of yur help. I'm going to give it another go at the weekend.

Thank You Kathryn. I'm sure your daughter will love them.
The service was good and they arrived quickly.

Maybe it's my computer - I don't see a miserable photo! I only see three, one with the SS curlers in, one from the back and one from the side. Anyway - you're probably just exaggerating! You look cute!

I agree with Brunsli. Don't worry about the front. The curls at the back are looking simply fab. You did good, and on your first attempt too. Thumbs up.

BTW, I'm having a serious case of envy where your hair ties are concerned. Confession is good for the soul, right? They look great in your locks. I like that you're trying new styles.

I think your set looks great from all angles. Try a side part with the curls for the front. You might like that better.

I think your curls came out great. I've only used the SS twice since I owned them because I always curl them to tight. I guess next time I will follow goodnapp's advice and put more locks on a curl and roll them when dry or mist them. However I still think I'm rolling them wrong but I guess I will never fully get it until I keep practicing.

I love the curls. Your locs look darling. The best part is the residual of the tight curl for me, too. I like the look as it loosens and begins to drop. Keep at it and enjoy the "process"... it's much better than some of the other processes.

Blessings~

Hey Andrea, I'm sure you'll find a way to get yourself some hairties.

Thanks for the tip QuietSpirit, I will try the side parting next time.

Sistalocd, don't forget to share your pics the next time you use them!

Jen, I agree. I certainly loved the curls more as the week went by.

N'drea, I don't what has gotten in to me - I spelt your name wrong. Sorry :-(

Please Mel, your hair looks pretty. I haven't tried curling mine yet. Mine always turned out a bit off when I would try to create a salon roller set at home on my relaxed hair.
